This summer Japan will play host to two world renowned festivals in fantastic settings and without a mud bath in sight. A trip to Japan also enables you to mix rock and roll with some more cultural experiences, making it a great holiday destination.
Fuji Rock is set in the foothills of Mt Naeba, away from its original location of Mt Fuji, and takes place from 30th July – 1st August. The festival is one of the cleanest and greenest music festivals in the world and attracts big name performers every year. This year it plays host to Muse and Massive Attack, among others.
Held in stadia in the middle of Tokyo and Osaka, Summer Sonic offers contrasting locations to Fuji Rock but the line-up for 2010 is also brimming with big name performers including Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins.
For an all-out festival experience, InsideJapan Tours offers a two-week trip combining attendance at both Fuji Rock and Summer Sonic, in Osaka, along with some of Japan’s classic sights. This includes time at your leisure to explore the former Imperial capital of Kyoto and bustling Tokyo.
