Extend your living space with an Ecospace studio

Thursday 4th March 2010

Have you outgrown your current living space but love your house too much, or can’t afford to move? Ecospace have designed options that allow you to add space and value to your property in just 12 weeks.

The smallest and cheapest option is the new WorkPod model which is a compact workspace for one person allowing them a solution to the home working dilemma. The WorkPod is usually more cost effective than renting a work space and is installed in just four days at the bottom of the garden, next to the house or by the shed.

The WorkPod is made from Structurally Insulated Panel Systems (SIPS) and clad in natural larch wood with double-glazed windows, energy efficient lighting and an underfloor heating system.  A service wall with sockets, data and telephone points completes your office space allowing you to work away from the distractions of the house.

For those who which to spend big, an Ecospace stand alone building including all the mod cons that you are used to is available to you. If you have an extensive budget, a bespoke studio could be the perfect opportunity to show your personality in the build.

Ecospace recently designed and installed a spacious bespoke live/work project measuring 14m x 6m in Wimbledon, London.  The contemporary building incorporates an open plan living space, mezzanine sleeping areas, kitchen, shower room, garage and home office studio, and was completed in just four weeks.

All Ecospace structures use sustainable wood and cedar cladding from renewable, certified sources, which are manufactured in the UK.  Ecospace studios are designed to maximise energy efficiency with high insulation values through thick multi-layered floors, walls and roofs, using the latest in modern methods of construction.

The WorkPod measures 2.5m x 1.9m, while the WorkPod Plus measures 3.1m x 2.5m.   Prices start from around £10k for the WorkPod, or £14k for the WorkPod Plus.

With a bigger budget £24,950 provides an external size studio of 6.4m x 3.8m, or for £27,950, a studio measuring 7.6m x 3.8m externally.

Ecospace studios are currently also available in mainland Europe, through the offices in Germany.
