Wealth and Fine Wine Fund: Alternative investments for the modern portfolio

The Wealth and Fine Wine Fund provides a unique opportunity to access a dynamic combination of quality, top performing international wine funds, including some that are now closed to new investments. This fund has been made available to Port Funds SPC, along with a facility enabling the purchase of fine wine directly through a network of global fine wine specialists.

In 2010 we will see the launch of a new and exciting income strategy. There is no other Fine Wine fund available today which can provide an income strategy in the wine market to work alongside the capital appreciation strategy.

To provide the best possible returns on this fund we have carefully conducted a research campaign in order to enter the Wine Merchant business worldwide, with a special interest in China. This will include wine consulting services for restaurateurs and Food & Beverage Directors in order for them to develop cellars to complement their menus.

Respect for a good wine is not by simply gaining access to more bottles, but through education about the source and ingredients and how it can complement certain types of food.  This is a particular area of expertise of the Wealth and Fine Wine Fund’s expert wine advisor, Brian Julyan. Brian is a Master Sommelier and the Chief Executive of the World Court of Master Sommelier.  Bryan Julian’s expertise embraces all wines, including New World wines, and his particular strength which lies in the development of cellars that complement specific menus.

As the Wealth and Fine Wine Fund’s principals are based in Asia, they do not focus exclusively on French wines. The Fund has greater potential to develop an income strategy maintaining its core exposure to Bordeaux through other funds, but building up a direct holding of selected vintages which are not well represented in the underlying funds which are based on an understanding of purchasing trends. Investment opportunities in the market for French wines still exist of course, however, over the medium- to long-term, the fund that best understands the benefits of a lateral strategy will be the fund that stands out from the crowd. The Wealth and Fine Wine Fund offers investors a unique combination of wine focused exposure from Asia therefore offers a new and exciting fine wine fund to investors.
