The new, improved Vita Audio R1 MkII now means that music just got portable, just in time for summer. The new model will launch in the shops at the end of June with updated features, showing how good music can be on the go.
Despite only having launched in 2004, the original R1 is already recognised as a design classic. The Sunday Telegraph called it: “The Aston Martin of DAB radios”. The MkII therefore had a lot to live up to, but has actually improved on its predecessor.
As well as all the new features, the Vita Audio R1 MkII now boasts an optional, quality hand-stitched leather case called the CarryPack, which protects the radio’s elegant exterior at home, or on the go. The CarryPack is complimented by the optional BackPack, an external battery that attaches to the back. This gives users complete portable freedom without compromising sound quality – as squeezing the batteries inside would steal valuable volume, resulting in a thinner sound.
As well as the benefits of crystal clear DAB digital radio, the R1 MkII gives greater control of its sound quality, with separate bass and treble controls. It also now features an input socket to play audio from an iPod, or other audio device, through the R1 MkII's superior speaker, plus a line-out socket to connect it to a hi-fi.
Its updated alarm clock also offers once, weekday and weekend settings, and lets users wake to radio or a buzzer at a personalised volume level. Adjustable sleep timer and snooze functions are also now included.
The Vita Audio R1 MkII will cost £159.99 for the real wood Walnut finish and £179.99 for the Dream White and Midnight Black high gloss finishes. It will be available through selected stockists including Aria, Selfridges, The Conran Shop, House of Fraser, Heals, Harrods, John Lewis and a range of quality specialist audio and design stores.
